About the Ridgewood Historical Society

 

The Schoolhouse Museum is an interesting place for visits by individuals, families, school classes, and scout groups.  It offers special opportunities for both children and adults to learn more about local history and culture and its evolution.

 

Museum Hours:

Saturdays 1:00--3:00 p.m.

Sundays 2:00--4:00 p.m.

Thursdays 1:00--3:00 p.m.

 

The Schoolhouse Museum offers year-round guided educational tours to school classes, boy and girl scout troops and senior citizens groups.  During the course of the year, the museum sponsors lectures, workshops, concerts, exhibits and miscellaneous events. Group tours on other days and at other times may be arranged by appointment.  Email tours@ridgewoodhistoricalsociety.org or phone the schoolhouse at 201-447-3242.

A free-will offering of $5 per person or $10 per family for non-members is requested when visiting the museum.  Members visit free and receive discounts on special events.

The cost for school group tours is $50 per class (for a typical class size of 20 or more).  The cost for scout groups is $3 per child with a minimum charge of $30.00

 

How to find us:

The Schoolhouse Museum is located at 650 E Glen Avenue in Ridgewood, NJ., directly across from Valleau Cemetery and adjacent to the Paramus Reformed Church.

Driving south on Route 17, exit at the Franklin Turnpike exit in Ridgewood and continue on to Glen Avenue (about 2/10 of a mile). The Museum is on the left at 650 E. Glen. Avenue.

Driving North on Route 17, exit on Linwood Avenue and proceed west to North Pleasant Avenue (second traffic light). Turn right and proceed to end of road (at the cemetery) turn right again and the museum is about 3/10 of a mile on the right.
